Weapon tricks, magic training, busy workshops and fewer fights with the inventory. v172 brings the progression work together.
A week of practice
v172 is published to the game servers and launcher. This update brings together the recent proficiency and profession work: weapon abilities, magic training, armor benefits, gathering rewards and crafting upgrades. There is a lot more happening between picking up your first tool and becoming dangerously good with it.
The new abilities use your existing eight hotbar slots. A favorite class spell, a weapon trick and a profession active all compete for the same space. Set up for the trip you are taking. A mining expedition and a boss fight probably deserve different buttons.
Less wrestling with menus
Proficiency and profession trees now use the class-tree presentation, with full-size icons and consistent hover details. Same-level connectors and level gutters have been cleaned up. Cumulative profession milestones sit on parallel branches, so the layout is easier to follow.
Double-click an equippable item in your backpack to equip it. The appropriate Equipment or Gathering panel opens, and replaced gear follows the normal backpack return rules. Rings take an empty slot first, then replace the left ring when both are occupied. Dragging still works.
Pack for the journey
Armor weight and capacity feedback are included, along with the committed class armor adaptations. Fishing effects now follow water arrival and multiplayer events, although their visibility still needs another polish pass.
There is more to finish. Swimming, Shield Slam and Concussive Slam, and Botanist breeding remain outside this release. The trees show the longer progression paths; this update delivers the integrated abilities and benefits described in the recent development posts.
